This project was intended as practice into the world of environment art and creating environment props for games/films. I designed the models to be modular in that the towers, walls and gatehouse could be arranged in multiple different layouts to create more advanced scenes. The overall aesthetic was based on the beautiful environment work done in the game Godfall, specifically the Earth Realm castles and fortifications. I wanted the models to be simple enough that they could be used effectively in a game engine without being too demanding on the system, so a high poly/low poly workflow was used.
All the modeling and UV's were done in Maya followed by the baking and texturing in Substance Painter. I then brought those textures back into Maya and rendered the scenes in Arnold using a single skydome light for illumination.
