Green Dragon

This dragon model is my first organic creature sculpt and was quite a challenge for me. The difficulty in sculpting an organic creature for the first time allowed me to learn allot about modelling, sculpting, texturing and the artistic process in general. It was an enjoyable project and rewarding in knowledge gained.

I created the dragon first using Zbrush to sculpt the anatomical muscle structures and walking pose from several pieces of reference art. I then brought that sculpt into Maya to retopololgize with Quad Draw in order to create the Low Poly model with which to bake. I did my baking and texturing in Adobe Substance 3D Painter using several Smart Materials and quite a bit of hand painting to get the desired appearance. I really wanted to achieve a natural animal look that would appear as realistic and believable as possible.
